Love is the most powerful driving force in the world. Understanding the love of God through understanding what Christ did for us on the cross is powerful to transform us into people who love others above ourselves. This love is the enablement from God to change the world. The mindset and motivating force with which we live after this enablement – especially in that which we do for other people – is one of ‘the love of God compels us’. God has given to us the ministry of reconciling the world to Him. He has enabled us to perceive people from His viewpoint, instead of that of the world. We see them as potentially saved, because Christ died for their sins. It is this compelling love of God which motivated many missionaries to lay down their lives in taking the gospel of the love of God to heathen nations. This love enabled men to translate the Bible so that everyone could read it, often at the cost of their lives. Everything which we do to further the Kingdom of God is motivated by our love for Him, even the smallest deeds of service. Love moves us towards the power of God, love colours your perception of people, it dulls painful memories and clothes us with every facet of grace. Love determines our attitude – it gives you a nice and winsome personality. Love calls you to action – doing deeds of kindness. Love even leads us to not use our Christian liberty at the expense of someone else’s tender conscience.
